The head of the institute's laboratory for ion beam interactions, Milko Jaksic, said that this facility would put the RBI institute on the fusion research map.
There are only 12 systems of this kind throughout the globe and four in the European Union: Germany, Great Britain and France, apart from Croatia.
The system enables the institute to develop its own fusion materials, and and makes it possible for the institute to develop cooperation with business partners, specialised in the production of new alloys.
The project helped the institute to intensify its international cooperation within the European Union.
Thus, experts from Japan, and Great Britain and some other European countries have been involved in this project.
