On 05 February 2025, Nissan reacted to media reports stating that Nissan has withdrawn the agreement for the merger with Honda publishing a statement saying that 'based on the memorandum of understanding signed on 23 December 2024, Honda and our company are in the stage of advancing various discussions'.
