epa11763667 Leader of the ultra-nationalist party AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians), George Simion, speaks during a press conference held outside the High Court of Cassation and Justice headquarters in Bucharest, Romania, 07 December 2024. The topic of the conference that Simion organized is about his petition to annul the Constitutional Court's decision of 06 December to cancel the electoral process of the presidential elections. Romanian Constitutional Court (CCR) board of judges announced on 06 December the annulment of the first round of the presidential elections. According to the CCR, the government will set a new date for the presidential elections, and the entire electoral process will be restarted, starting with the registration and validation of all candidates. AUR party won 18.3 percent of the total votes on 2024 parliamentary elections, seconding social-democrats top scorers from PSD party. The signs that supporters and top party members hold read: 'STOP THE DICTATURE! OPEN THE POLLING STATIONS FOR ROMANIANS!'. EPA/ROBERT GHEMENT
