Odair Moniz, a 43-year-old Cape Verdean living in Bairro do Zambujal, Amadora, was shot by a PSP officer on 21 October in Bairro da Cova da Moura, in the same municipality, and died shortly afterwards at Sao Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon. According to a police statement, Moniz fled and crashed a car after seeing a police vehicle, then attempted to attack approaching officers with a blade before an officer opened fire.
