A total of 61 million kuna (EUR 8.2 million) is to be invested in this project that encompasses 17 castles and three worship places from the island of Krk to the towns in the hinterland of Rijeka.
"From the beginning of the 12th century to the second half of the 17th the Croatian aristocratic Frankopan family left numerous traces of their influence and power throughout Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. ‘The Routes of the Frankopans’ cultural route encourages the evaluation, restoration, protection and innovative interpretation of 17 Frankopan castles and 3 sacral buildings," according to information provided on the project's web site.
