Photodays activities run throughout the year, including an annual competition and travelling exhibitions, and end with the traditional festival in Rovinj in May.
More than 600 photographers from 27 countries have entered more than 8,500 photographs and the main selector for the Grand Prix prize will be Willie Osterman, the head of the Fine Art Photography Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
A traditional international exhibition of finalists will be held in the Rovinj Museum, featuring photographs of architecture, documentary photography, portraits, nature, nudes, fashion and fine arts.
Last year's Grand Prix winner, Slovenian Matic Zorman, will hold a one-man exhibition of his photographs showing the fatigue, uncertainty and hope of refugees and migrants on their way to the 'land of their dreams' across the Balkans.
