In the last 50 years autistic disorders have increased 15 times and the latest research shows that an autistic disorder occurs in one of 80 newborns. Diagnostic data show that around 12,000 people with autism live in Croatia.
The UN General Assembly declared April 2 World Autism Awareness Day to underline the need to improve the quality of life of persons with autistic disorders.
This year, the day will be marked under the slogan "Break barriers together for autism – Let's build an accessible society".
