Economic sentiment in Croatia in March record high

ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - In March 2017, economic sentiment in Croatia jumped to the highest level since the country joined the European Union in mid-2013, following strongly improved industry confidence, the European Commission said in a report on Thursday.

In March 2017, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) in Croatia went up 4.2 percentage points on the month to 119 points, surpassing December 2016, when it was 115.5 points.

Industry confidence more than doubled to 12.8 points, its highest level since Croatia joined the EU. In February 2017, industry confidence was six points. Services confidence in March 2017 was 23.5 points (+3.8), retail trade confidence was 11.6 points (also +3.8), and construction confidence also increased 3.8 points to 0.4. Consumer confidence was the only aspect that weakened to 14.7 points (-1).

In the EU, ESI increased 0.2 points to 109.1 in March 2017.
