"My Australian Story" book presented in Zagreb

ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - Tuga Tarle, a retired professional diplomat and promoter of Croatian culture in the world, on Tuesday presented a new book entitled "My Australian Story," a novel which describes the life and hardships of Croatian emigrants through the eyes of an eleven-year old child.

The book was published by the OS Association and consists of 30 miniature prose pieces alphabetically presented that form the backbone of various events and experiences.

Book critic and author Lada Zigo underscored that this a beautiful, meaningful book, a nostalgic story similar to "The Little Prince." "We can learn more about Australia in this book than in any history text book," Zigo said.

Tuga Tarle was a professional diplomat until 2013 and served in Chile, Spain, Australia and Slovakia. She is a publicist and writer. She was one of the initial founders of the DORA foundation that provided care for children victims of the Homeland War.

In 2013 she founded the OS Association to promote Croatia's cultural identity and since the mid-1990s she has been a member of the editorial board of the "Matica" monthly of the Croatian Heritage Foundation.

The illustration for the book's cover was created by Patricio Alejandro Aguero, a Zagreb resident originally from Venezuela.

Australian Ambassador to Croatia Susan Cox and Chilean Ambassador Juan Luis Nilo Valledor were present at the presentation of "My Australian Story."
