Zagreb Film Festival to take place on Nov 12-20

ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - This year's Zagreb Film Festival, taking place on November 12-20, will feature about 100 films in various programmes, including the largest number of thrillers and female directors to date, and over 120 guests.

The guests include Romanian director Cristi Puiu, German director Andreas Dresen, and Canadian actress Deborah Kara Unger, who is coming to a special screening of David Cronenberg's "Crash" in which she starred and which will close the festival. Israeli director Maysaloun Hamoud will present her "In Between".

Thirty-three films will compete for the Golden Pram award - 13 feature films, including two by Croatian directors, Katarina Zrinka Matijevic's "Trampoline" and Hana Jusic's  "Quit Staring at My Plate"; 10 shorts and 10 from the Checkers programme.

The thrillers to be shown include US director Tom Ford's "Nocturnal Animals", Romanian director Bogdan Mirica's "Dogs", Belgian director Peter Monsaert's "Flemish Heaven" and Chinese-Canadian director Johnny Ma's "Old Stone".

The festival will be opened by Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen's "The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki".

Some of the other films to be shown include "A Taste of Ink" by French director Morgan Simon and Croatian actor Rade Serbedzija's directorial debut "The Liberation of Skopje". 

For the first time this year, persons with impaired hearing and sight will be able to attend the screenings.
