Krsko plant to start regular refuelling outage Saturday

ZAGREB Sept 29 (Hina) - The nuclear power plant, based in the Slovenian town of Krsko and co-owned by Slovenia and Croatia, is embarking on a EUR 20-million month-long routine refuelling outage and an overhaul of the plant on Saturday, October 1. the power plant's management board chairman Stane Rozman said at a news conference on Thursday, boasting that the plant is operating in a fully stable manner and has reached a high level of nuclear stability.

During the current 28th fuel cycle, which began with the connection of the power plant to the grid on 17 May 2015 and which has lasted 18 months, the plant has been operating completely safely, and has delivered 8.23 billion kilowatt hour of electricity. We have also consistently complied with management and environmental restrictions, Rozman said.

During the month-long refuelling outage that will start on Saturday, also 27 major technological improvements will be conducted in the plant.

The upgrading of the safety and security of the plant is being conducted at three stages and the second state is ongoing including  the incorporation of an additional independent system for reducing pressure in the emergency core cooling system, an additional control room etc.

Croatia's representative sitting on the management board, Hrvoje Perharic also expressed satisfaction with the work of the plant and environment protection standards.
