The benches, a project by Split University student and innovator Ivan Mrvos, is a gift to Zagreb University students from the Women's Lions Club "Zrinjevac".
Among other things, the benches are expected to promote greater use of green and sustainable green technologies.
Apart from serving as a place to rest, the benches can also be used to charge mobile phones and tablets, they have an Internet hotspot and air quality sensors and collect other publicly available data such as the noise level and air temperature. The solar-powered smart bench serves as public lighting at night, has an instrument that counts passers-by, can operate ten days without solar power and is resistant to blows, said Mrvos.
The project is related to the European Universities Games, Mrvos said, adding that his project had not been financially supported by the state and that today it employed 22 people.
