Croatians diagnosed with brain tumors are facing many problems ranging from a lack of adequate information to side-effects of treatment of this disease. The main problem is lack of psychological assistance, as this is not a standard element of treatment, said Valerija Korent, the chairwoman of the Croatian association of brain tumor patients "Glia".
The association today organised events observing the Gray Ribbon Day, a drive to raise awareness of brain cancer.
There are 50 to 150 brain cancer cases per million people. Observing Gray Ribbon Day started in 2000 worldwide. This commemoration day was initialised by the Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe e.V. (German Brain Tumor Association).
Croatia joined this campaign in 2015.
This year, Gray Ribbon Day was marked in Osijek, Rijeka, Varazdin, and Cakovec apart from Zagreb.
