Exhibition of drawings by Alvaro Siza and his wife opens in Zagreb

ZAGREB, June 12 (Hina) - Drawings by world-famous Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza and his wife Maria Siza, who died in 1973, opened in the Oris House of Architecture in Zagreb on Saturday.

Alvaro Siza, a Pritzker Prize winner, attended the opening ceremony. The exhibition closes on 31 August.

"Alvaro Siza is one of the main protagonists of today’s architecture scene who will have his project for a chapel realised soon in Croatia. The exhibition is the result of a lasting cooperation and friendship between this architect and Oris, enabled by the sponsorship of the Embassy of Portugal here in Zagreb as a part of their celebration of the Day of Portugal," according to information provided on the web site of the Oris House of Architecture.

During his stay in Croatia, Siza will travel to the village of Zorkovac near the town of Ozalj where the private chapel designed by this prominent architect  is to be built.

Alvaro Siza won fame for his work "Boa Nova Tea House", situated not far from the town of Matosinhos where the architect grew up,
