Swedish writer Carl-Johan Vallgren to attend Zagreb Book Festival

ZAGREB, May 13, 2016 (Hina) - Swedish novelist Carl-Johan Vallgren will arrive in Zagreb next week to participate in the Zagreb Book Festival on 16-22 May, and on that occasion he has given an interview to Hina in which he describes himself as "a hard-labouring writer, 7-8 hours a day in front of  his computer."

Vallgren, who won the 2002 August Prize, an annual Swedish literary prize given by the Swedish Publishers' Association, for his novel "The Horrific Sufferings of the Mind-Reading Monster Hercules Barefoot", says that "life is the greatest source for good literary ideas."

"And magic realism…well, only when I think it suits the story I want to tell," said the author of the Danny Katz crime novels.

Answering the question about what sort of novels he is trying to write, this Swedish author answers "Right now: bone hard noir suspense novels about Danny Katz and his friends. And I want my characters to throw shadows, to feel real…not only realistic.."

The Zagreb-based Fraktura company has published Croatian translations of two of his Danny Katz crime novels: "Djecak Iz Sjene ("Skuggpojken"), and, "Svinje" ("Svinen") and also his awarded novel  "Den vidunderliga kärlekens historia' "that is "The Horrific Sufferings of the Mind-Reading Monster Hercules Barefoot".

This Swedish novelist will promote his work in Zagreb on 21 May.
