Ambassador Michele Boccoz said the certificate was a result of successful cooperation between Croatia's National Protection and Rescue Directorate (DUZS) and the French Embassy's internal affairs office since 2007 in rescue from ruins, the fire-fighting command system, and chemical risks in fire-fighting.
She particularly commended Croatia's contribution to the handling of the refugee crisis since last September, saying Croatia had ensured an organised and fair reception of refugees and migrants, respecting human values.
DUZS head Jadran Perinic said Croatia, by adopting the Civil Defence Act and the Critical Infrastructure Act and making a risk estimate, had met all the prerequisites for absorbing the EUR 260 million available in European Union funds to develop the DUZS system.
