During the ceremony, the organisers as well as the chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Covic, who submitted in Brussels on Monday his country's application for EU membership, held speeches and Covic thanked the Croatian MEPs for their contribution to Bosnia's efforts to come closer to the European Union.
Addressing the event, Croatian Foreign Minister Miro Kovac reiterated Croatia's strong support to the leadership of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its journey towards the EU bloc.
Earlier on Monday, the application was handed in to the representative of the EU chair, Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders, and EU high Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said that the EU would analyse the application and that it was good news both for Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the EU.
In order to celebrate the submission of application, the Mostar branch of "Matica Hrvatska", a nonprofit and nongovernmental Croat cultural institution, organised a splendid fireworks display in that southern city on Monday evening.
