According to biologist Grgur Pleslic, efficient protection is based on exact and current data on the sea environment and bio-diversity which is collected and analysed by scientists in research and monitoring programmes. Elsewhere in the world (Australia, Canada, USA), there is growing interest to include the public in data collection, so anyone spending time in nature or on the sea can record their observations and in that way assist in creating a fuller picture of the situation of the sea environment and bio-diversity.
This application facilitates recording observations of protected and/or endangered species with the aim of creating a data base of their appearance and spatial distribution in the Adriatic. This refers to species on the list of NATURA 2000 and other endangered species that may be spotted in the Adriatic and that anyone can identify fairly easily.
All that is required to be included in the monitoring programme is to install the Marine Partnership application, which is available at: http://www.plavisvijet-vis.hr/#!ukljucitese/xgyox, and when an interesting species is spotted, details can be sent immediately.
