11th edition of Museum Night held across Croatia

ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - The 11th edition of Night of Museums was held throughout Croatia on Friday when museums in cities across the country as well as some other cultural institutions were open from 6 pm until 1 am and turned into one big event.
The main topic of the eleventh Night of Museums was "Founders and Reformers – Josip Juraj Strossmayer, a Croatian patron." The intention of the organisers was to pay tribute to one of the most eminent and most influential Croatian public figures of the 19th century, a politician and a bishop whose 200th birthday was celebrated last year.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic addressed reporters outside the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, proposing that next year's edition of Night of Museums be dedicated to two women, true heroines of Croatia's history and arts - Marija Juric Zagorka and Slava Raskaj.

Congratulating the organisers, Grabar-Kitarovic expressed satisfaction with the fact that Night of Museums was turning into an important cultural event for the wider public.

Zagreb museums were also visited by Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic and Mayor Milan Bandic.
