Biden says south-east Europe of extreme interest to USA

ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden, who was participating as a special guest at an extraordinary summit of the Brdo-Brijuni Presidential Process in Zagreb on Wednesday, said that the region of Southeast Europe had been of extreme interest to his country in the last 25 years.
For the United States and for me personally, but I am speaking on behalf of the American President, this region has been of extreme interest for the last 25 years, Biden said.

He praised the regional initiative "Brdo-Brijuni Process" as a good job as it has managed to bring together heads of state for talks for the past five years.

The 73-year-old U.S. official also made a joke about his age, informing the reporters that he had been here when (Yugoslav leader Josip Broz) Tito had been alive and later when (the first Croatian President Franjo) Tudjman had been in office.

Now you can see how old I am, Biden added.

The Zagreb summit meeting of heads of state from the countries in the area of former Yugoslavia plus Albania was co-chaired by Croatia's president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and her Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor.
