Son of Saul winner of Zagreb Film Festival

ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - The Hungarian film "Son of  Saul" by Laszlo Nemes has won the main, Golden Pram award in the category of feature films at this year's Zagreb Film Festival, taking place on November 14-22 and featuring 111 films.
The film is a story of a man, a Hungarian member of the Jewish prisoner unit in a Nazi camp in charge of taking other inmates to gas chambers and burning corpses, who tries to keep his humanity in inhumane conditions.

This is an intense film with a humane message that gets into your system and causes a strong physical experience, which is a quality rarely seen in films, jury member Christoph Thoke told Hina. Thoke was on the jury for feature films with Levan Koguashvili and Jessica Woodworth.

Special recognitions in the category of feature films went also to the Danish film "A War" by Tobias Lindholm and to "Tanna", a film by the Australian directors Bentley Dean and Martin Butler.

In the short film programme, the Golden Pram award went to the French film "A Few Seconds" by Nora El Hourch.

A festival award was also won by Croatian author Daina Oniunas-Pusic for her film "The Beast", and two other Croatians, Andrija Mardesic and Jure Pavlovic, received recognitions for their films "Two All Alone" and "Picnic" respectively.

The film "Prince" by Dutch director Sam de Jong was named the best film in the PLUS programme, dedicated to young audiences.
