Croatia pays tribute to victims of Paris terror attacks

ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - By lowering flags to half-staff and sounding sirens at noon on Monday, Croatia paid tribute and observed a minute of silence for the victims of the terrorist attacks committed in Paris this past Friday.
In Croatia Monday is a national day of mourning, as it is in France, for the 129 people killed in a string of terrorist attacks in the French capital. 350 people were injured in the attacks.

Croatian state officials and numerous citizens have expressed condolences to the people of France, lit candles outside the French Embassy in downtown Zagreb and signed the book of condolence opened at the embassy.

Croatia and many other countries have expressed solidarity with France by lighting up some public buildings in the colours of the French flag.

Following the attacks, French President Francois Hollande declared three days of mourning and a state of emergency.

Later today, Hollande is expected to address both chambers of the French parliament.
