HDZ-led coalition wins 63 seats, SDP coalition 52 - preliminary results

ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - With only 14.30% of the votes counted by the State Electoral Commission (DIP) by 10 pm on Sunday, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)-led Patriotic Coalition was set to win 63 seats in Croatia's 151-seat parliament, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP)-led coalition called "Croatia is Growing" could count on 52 seats.
The platform of independent slates which goes by the name "MOST (Bridge)" is set to win 17 seats.

The Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) is likely to win five seats, while two seats are to be won each by the Human Shield party, the party led by Zagreb mayor Milan Bandic, and the Croatian Democratic Alliance of Slavonia and Baranja (HDSSB).

According to DIP, a turnout was 61.12% of some 3.8 million eligible voters in the country and abroad.
