Goods exports in first 8 months of 2015 increase nearly 11 pct

ZAGREB, Nov 6 (Hina) - Croatia's exports of goods in the first eight months of 2015, expressed in the national currency, increased 10.9 percent on the year, while imports increased 6.8%, the national statistical office said on Friday.
According to provisional data, exports in said period totalled HRK 56.2 billion, while imports stood at HRK 92.6 billion. The export-import ratio was 60.6%.

Expressed in euros, the export of goods in the first eight months of 2015 totalled EUR 7.4 billion and was 0.9% higher than in the first eight months of 2014, while imports went up 6.5% to EUR 12.15 billion.

Croatia exports 67.1% of its goods to the European Union where, in the first eight months of 2015, it exported EUR 4.9 billion, up 16.3% on the year. Imports from the EU increased 10.8% to EUR 9.45 billion.

Exports to Central European Free Trade Agreement countries in said period fell 2.2% to EUR 1.32 billion, while imports increased 7.8% to EUR 655 million.

Broken down by country, Croatia's main trade partner is Italy, where EUR 997.3 million worth of goods were exported in the first eight months of 2015, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, while imports increased 2.7% to EUR 1.6 billion.

Exports to Slovenia increased 18.9% to EUR 915.4 million, while imports increased 5.3% to EUR 1.3 billion.

Exports to Germany reached EUR 828.3 million, an increase of 10.1%, while imports increased 8.4% to EUR 1.8 billion.
