This was a humanitarian flight organised by the UNHCR, bringing tents, raincoats, thermal blankets, heaters and solar lamps. The UNHCR's spokesman for Croatia, Jan Kapic, told reporters at Osijek airport that the relief would be distributed to the refugees at the Opatovac reception centre and along the refugee route as of Thursday.
So far, the UNHCR has distributed more than 80,000 blankets, 50,000 litres of water and 30,000 raincoats to the refugees and will continue to help, Kapic said.
The first housing units for a new reception centre in Slavonski Brod, which will be more appropriate for the reception of refugees in the winter, will start arriving on Thursday, together with heaters, he added.
