HDZ chief hails Tudjman as Croatia's political anchorage

ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - Addressing a convention of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) youth section in Zagreb on Saturday, HDZ leader Tomislav Karamarko said the first Croatian President Franjo Tudjman was "the political anchorage" of the Croatian nation in the 20th century, and this role was not played either by Ante Pavelic, who was at the helm of the Nazi-style Croatian Independent State from 1941 to 1945, or by Josip Broz Tito, a lifelong president of the Communist-led Socialist Yugoslav federation, explaining that anyone who symbolises totalitarianism cannot be that.
