All 10,000 appliances covered by energy saving grant scheme sold in a day

ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - Washing machines A+++ were the best selling appliances under the grant scheme of the Environment Protection Fund which subsidised purchase of energy efficient devices, and all 10,000 home appliances envisaged under the scheme were bought during Friday by citizens entitled to those grants.
The Fund earmarked HRK 800 per appliance to co-finance purchase of fridges, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, and tumble dryers of A+++ rating throughout Croatia.

Clothes washers accounted for 83% of all purchases under the scheme, the Fund stated on Saturday.

As many as 40% of those citizens who exercised this right to buy energy-saving major appliances with aid of government funding said that the new appliances would replace the previous ones older than around six years.

The Fund stresses that the use of those new 10,000 appliances would help save 938,189 kWh and prevent the emission of 220 tonnes of CO2 annually.

The buyers in question were provided with necessary forms in stores where they made purchases and they are given a deadline by 19 October to forward the necessary documentation to the Fund to be refunded HRK 800 within 30 days since the receipt of their documentation by the Fund.

The Funds set aside a total of 16 million kuna for this scheme, and 8 million were allotted in the first round of the implementation of the scheme in June, when Croatians bought 10,000 energy-saving home appliances in nine days, and the remainder of eight millions was secured for the second round, which was carried out and completed in a day, that is 2 October.
