Anti-immigration rally in Zagreb poorly attended

ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - The right-wing Croatian Pure Party of Rights (HCSP) held a peaceful, but poorly attended rally in Zagreb's main square on Saturday to protest against the influx of migrants and the European Union's immigration policy, which it said was suicidal.
Party leaders told a crowd of about 20 that the uncontrolled entry of migrants into Croatia and other EU countries was a time bomb "that will go off sooner or later."

"All the facts available indicate that this massive invasion of immigrants from the Middle East and Africa, as well as the war in the Middle East, is orchestrated and carefully planned. Croatia must not fall for it and unquestioningly obey the orders of Western countries, but must show that it is a sovereign and independent state and protect the safety of both the Croatian and European future," the head of the party's youth organisation, Frano Cirko, said.

"Short-sighted solutions" by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic will only encourage illegal entries, and more than 95 per cent of them only want liberal welfare allowances, which can't be the reason for being a refugee, Cirko said.

The HCSP rally was preceded at the same venue by one by the Autochthonous Croatian Party of Rights (AHSP), which also drew only a handful of people. This party believes that "illegal economic immigration will cause economic and security instability and threaten Christianity in Europe."

"Immigrants and refugees are not the same. Eighty per cent of them are men of fighting age," AHSP leader Drazen Keleminec said, calling on the authorities to send the immigrants on to America because it was responsible for the current crisis.

The protesters continued their protest outside the offices of the ruling Social Democratic Party, demanding complete closure of the border to migrants.
