Exhibition on Adriatic Sea opens at Zagreb Museum of Archaeology

ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - An exhibition on the Adriatic Sea from the second century BC to the beginning of the Middle Ages, aimed at showing the historical importance of a region which connected different worlds and was the site of exchange of valuable economic and cultural goods, was opened at the Zagreb Museum of Archaeology on Tuesday.
The "Aquileia-Salona-Apollonia" exhibition was opened as part of the French Rendez-Vous Festival in Croatia. It was prepared by Croatian, French, Italian and Albanian experts.

French Ambassador Michele Boccoz said the exhibition would help the public discover the historical wealth of the Adriatic Sea as a magical place of encounter and exchange on the crossroads of European civilisations. Archaeological research has a privileged place in Croatian-French cooperation and this exhibition is a recognition of that cooperation, she said.

The exhibition was opened by Croatian Culture Minister Berislav Sipus, who underlined the ties and friendship between the two countries, recalling the Croatie La Voici festival at which Croatia had presented its culture in France.

The exhibition is open until October 31.
