DZS: Export growth accelerates to 11.5% in H1

ZAGREB, Aug 10 (Hina) - Croatian commodity exports grew by 11.5% in the first six months of this year compared with the same period last year, increasing also in comparison to exports recorded in the January-May period, figures released by the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) on Monday indicate.

Preliminary results on goods traded in the period from January to the end of June this year indicate that Croatia exported goods to the value of HRK 41.6 billion, which is HRK 4.3 billion or 11.5% more than in the same period last year. That is a somewhat faster rate than recorded for the first five months of the year, when exports rose by 10.9%.

At the same time, imports grew at a slower rate of 4.9% or by HRK 3.2 billion, amounting to HRK 68.03 billion.

Exports to other EU member states rose at a rate of 15.9% compared to the same period last year and reached an amount of HRK 28.1 billion. Exports to third countries rose by 3.2% to HRK 13.57 billion.

Imports from EU member states in the January-June period amounted to HRK 53.2 billion, up 9.4% compared to the same period last year while imports from non-EU member states dropped by 8.4% to HRK 14.79 billion.

The trade deficit in kuna value at the end of June amounted to HRK 26.36 billion and was 3.9% lower in comparison to 2014.
