Bosnia's lower house fails to condemn Srebrenica genocide

SARAJEVO, June 10 (Hina) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's lower house of parliament on Wednesday did not endorse a proposal for the adoption of a resolution to condemn 1995's Srebrenica genocide because the Serb political parties were against.

Even though 25 MPs voted in favour of the resolution and 13 were against, the fact that all the votes against came from Republika Srpska, the country's Serb entity, prevailed.

The Bosnian parliament cannot pass a resolution without at least partial entity support.

The resolution was put forward by the Social Democratic Party group in May, following a similar resolution adopted by the European Parliament in 2009.
