On 2–7 June 2015 the coastal town Porec will transform into the biggest sandbox in Croatia. Following the example of Klagenfurt, Porec will be a member of the international beach volleyball family. The world’s best 32 teams per gender will compete for the medals, a prize pool worth US$ 800,000 and valuable points for the qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The international Beach Volleyball elite is going to compete in front of a crowd at the Center Court to fight for essential Olympic qualification points on their road to the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio.
German raceplane pilot Matthias Dolderer, fresh from thrilling the crowds at the Red Bull Air Race World Championship Series stop in Rovinj, stopped by Porec to hand off the action sport ball to the Swatch Major Series, hosting its historic first tournament this weekend.
Dolderer hit some volleys with his countryman, 2012 Olympic beach volleyball champion and Swatch Major Series expert Julius Brink, and got to meet two local Croatian stars of the sport, Antea Tadic and Maja Rosko.
Spectators at the main court will have free entrance. Entrance is granted on a “first come - first served” basis during the whole event week. The entrance is also free on all side courts.
