The exhibition was inspired by a group of designers from South Africa who have been collecting posters from around the world that are related to Mandela's struggle against apartheid. Designers from more than seventy countries responded to the initiative and in less than two months 700 posters had been collected. The exhibition was first presented in South Africa and has since been presented at 15 different locations around the world over the past two years.
The exhibition contains works from Argentina, Australia, Bahrein, Belgium, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, and many more countries.
The exhibition will remain open until 30 May. Africa Week will continue until 24 May, presenting lectures about Africa's music tradition, a panel discussion of Europe's relationship toward African migrants ,and a concert of African music and more.
