According to unofficial information, HEP made the most favourable offer for the provision of 270 gigawatt-hours of electric power for the City of Ljubljana, a project estimated at 12 million euros for three years. HEP was one of five bidders, including the Slovenian company Petrol.
HEP would not formally confirm the information on Wednesday, saying that the tender had not been closed and a decision on the selection was yet to be made. It said it was happy that it was competitive in a very important international tender. "That confirms the increasing quality of our business, our strength and strong sales infrastructure as well as our determination to expand in the region," HEP said.
Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak said that this was only the beginning of HEP's major investment cycle. "HEP will be a regional energy leader because that's what we planned a few years ago and now that is becoming a reality," he said.
Since the second half of last year HEP has again been supplying the City of Zagreb with electricity, which was previously done by the Slovenian company GEN I.
