With an average score of 4.3, Croatia is considered a medium-developed country. The score, which is at the level of previous years, shows that it is stagnating and not doing enough with regard to reforms, stimulation of innovation and computerisation of public administration, the NVK said.
Singapore, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland continue to lead the way in terms of readiness to use ICT. Japan is the only country that has seen a significant improvement in its ranking, moving up six places. Hong Kong and South Korea have dropped from 8th to 14th place and from 10th to 12th place respectively.
The 2015 edition of the Global Information Technology Report shows that developing and emerging economies are not managing to utilise the ICT potential to launch social and economic reforms and catch up with the more developed countries.
The report underlines the very strong correlation between ICT use by individuals, businesses and governments and the ability to increase one's economic and social influence. It also emphasises the importance of state governance in creating a good regulatory and business environment with a competitive ICT market as a basic precondition for all countries.
