By introducing the new procedure, Croatia Airlines has joined other airlines that have introduced compulsory presence of two flight crew members in the cockpit following the crash of a Germanwings plane with 150 passengers and crew members which was downed by the co-pilot in the French Alps this past Tuesday.
Croatia Airlines explained that if one of the pilots left the cockpit, his place would be taken, for the duration of his absence, by a member of the cabin crew.
Croatia Airlines said the procedure had been planned earlier and was in line with the latest recommendation from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
