The company financed the plant with its own funds and a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan. The plant employes 42 workers and will eventually employ about 160.
Nearly the entire output is intended for exports, primarily to Western Europe, it was said.
The inauguration was attended by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, Deputy PM and Regional Development and EU Funds Minister Branko Grcic, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic, Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina, and local officials.
Atlantic Grupa CEO Emil Tedeschi said the project would not have been possible without the support of the local administration.
Business and communication won in this case, he said, adding that if there was a clear business plan, a good team and good legislation, investments, job creation, Croatia's promotion as investment-worthy and the creation of a globally competitive product were possible in record time.
The government supports such investments, the prime minister said. "It's nice to hear that Croatia has clear laws for those with a clear vision, that those with a clear plan can make it happen... but we must still work on improving the business climate and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy."
Asked by reporters what specifically the government would do to improve business conditions, Milanovic mentioned the building of roads such as Nova Gradiska's south ring road or a road on the island of Rab. "This region suffered in the war, a military aggression. Perhaps there was less arson than in easternmost Croatia. It has stagnated for too long. And here you have a motorway with about 20,000 vehicles on average going east, southeast. This is in the palm of the hand of those who wish to invest."
With its Multipower brand, Atlantic Grupa is Europe's leading producer of sports food, most of which is produced near Hamburg and in Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia.
