The CeQuint project aims to assess, reward and enhance the internationalisation of higher education.
MEF is the first faculty in the European Union to have received the certificate, Dean Davor Milicic said.
Medical doctors, Milicic said, "are the most attractive Croatian export product", and Croatia should create conditions to retain its students after they graduate. By the same token, we should try and integrate foreign students in society and enable them to remain in Croatia, he said.
Around 50 students enrol in the course each year and entrance exams are held in the USA, Hannover, Stockholm and Tel Aviv.
At first, half the foreign students were of Croatian origin, however, today there are more and more foreigners interested in studying in Zagreb, it was said.
There are currently around 20 different university programmes in Croatia offered in English.
