Francophonie Month to be held around Croatia during March

ZAGREB, March 2 (Hina) - March is traditionally the month of Francophonie in Croatia which is part of a global activity for millions of Francophones and Francophiles presenting various programmes to celebrate the French language and culture.

International Francophonie Day is celebrated on March 20 and each year represents an opportunity for 220 million Francophones and Francophiles around the world to honour the French language but also to confirm the use of Francophonie for the benefit of cultural variety and human values which we share.

Francophonie Month was launched by the French Embassy in Croatia along with other Francophonie embassies including Belgium, Canada, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Switzerland with the support of the Croatian Foreign and European Affairs ministry.

The festival includes films in Zagreb and other cities around Croatia.

The Alliance Francaise in Zagreb and elsewhere in Croatia is organising several concerts, exhibitions, book presentations, competitions, culinary events, free French language classes, theatre productions, panel discussions and so on.

One of the highlights of this year's Francophonie month is a presentation of "Laurette de Paname" in Dubrovnik, Split, Osijek, Zagreb and Rijeka featuring traditional Parisian cabaret dancers.
