"The Islamic community should speak out and the state must do its job. It must stop (such behaviour). Whether it will succeed is questionable, but the state must be resolute in it," Kavazovic told the Oslobodjenje daily in an interview published on Friday.
Kavazovic confirmed that the Islamic community has problems with people who interpret Islam radically, but it wants to talk with them, even though it maintains the clear view that it will not allow anyone to advocate violence and hatred against other and different people.
"Those who violate the basic principles of Islam, who call for violence and who use violence cannot stand shoulder to shoulder with our imams and the Islamic community," he said, noting that such behaviour should be clearly condemned.
Kavazovic said that the Islamic community remains open to dialogue even with those who attack and challenge it. "Our door remains open, because we must not make a mistake by excluding and driving away people who think differently than the Islamic community. Quite the contrary, I think that dialogue with those people is important."
