Gas supply expected to be regular during winter season

ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - Gas supply in Croatia during the winter should be normal, regardless of the political crisis in Ukraine and possible problems with the import of Russian gas, it was said at a conference on natural gas organised by the national association of gas experts (HSUP) at which experts presented their views of gas supply security in 2014/2015.

The director of the HEP-Opskrba Plinom gas supplier, Marko Blazevic, said that HEP had secured all conditions for normal gas supply in the coming winter season.

Blazevic said his company had both domestically-produced gas and imported gas and believed that it would suffice for secure gas supply to households.

A professor at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering, Igor Dekanic, agreed with Blazevic, adding that he was more afraid of a cold winter.

HSUP president Miljenko Sunic, too, said that there should be enough gas, noting that problems could arise in case of a failure on the gas supply network or a longer period of extreme cold, but that even then household consumption was not expected to be jeopardised.
