"I am excited and proud, and I am also a bit nervous due to the responsibility," the new rector told reporters ahead of the inauguration ceremony at the Croatian National Theatre.
Boras was elected to the position on 15 April by members of the University of Zagreb Academic Senate in the second round of a secret ballot in which he won 35 of a total of 68 votes of those present.
Boras, who served as dean of Zagreb's Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences before becoming the university head, will be at the helm of the oldest Croatian university for the next four years. He succeeded Aleksa Bjelis.
