Opposition leader for no-confidence in government, early election

ZAGREB, Nov 28 (Hina) - Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) President Tomislav Karamarko announced on Thursday that he would request a vote of no-confidence in the government and an early election.

"Giving the government a no-confidence vote remains open for us, an early election is our option. I said so a couple of months ago and now I can say we will request it," the opposition leader said.

Speaking of the 2014 draft budget presented in parliament yesterday, Karamarko said "it was not development-oriented, expenditures have been increased, structural reforms haven't been carried out. There's no investment incentive, the budget deficit is HRK 18 billion and will be even higher because of interest rates. I'm pessimistic because I don't see anything that can get things going."

He accused Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic of changing his mind every couple of days on when Croatians would live better.

The government is simply bad and has nothing to offer and Croatia has not deserved this, said Karamarko.

Commenting on the fact that there had been no bids to buy a 49 per cent stake in Croatia Airlines, he said Croatia must have its own airline and that the company "must gain the energy to revive itself."

As for media reports that French experts had concluded that a bridge connecting the Peljesac peninsula and the mainland was the best way to connect Croatia's south with the rest of the country, Karamarko said, "We consider this to be the only solution too and we will build it."
