More tourist arrivals, nights prove longer season, successful direction

ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - There were 8.5 per cent more tourist arrivals and 4.6% more bed/nights on the coast and in Zagreb in October 2013 than in October 2012, while the first ten months of 2013 saw a year-on-year increase of 5.4% in arrivals and 4% in bed/nights, the Tourism Ministry said on Friday.

For the ministry and the National Tourist Board, the figures are evidence of a prolonged season and confirm the success of their strategic direction.

October saw 547,300 arrivals and nearly 1.8 million bed/nights, while the first ten months of the year saw 12.1 million arrivals and 71.2 million bed/nights.

In October, foreign tourists accounted for 460,200 arrivals and 1.6 million bed/nights, up 10.7% and 6.6% on the year respectively.

In the first ten months of the year, foreign tourists accounted for nearly 11 million arrivals and a little over 65 million bed/nights, up 6% and 4.6% on the year respectively.

Domestic tourists accounted for 87,000 arrivals and 127,100 bed/nights in October, down 2% and 8.3% on the year respectively, and for 1.15 million arrivals and 6.17 million bed/nights in the first ten months of 2013, down 0.3% and 2% on the year respectively.
