Former Croat camp inmates accuse Bosnian state prosecutor

MOSTAR, Oct 19 (Hina) - The association of former Croat concentration camp inmates in Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Saturday it was embittered by the fact that the Bosnian state prosecutor had stopped an investigation into crimes committed at the Muzej camp near Jablanica, saying that by characterising it as a detention centre, Chief State Prosecution Goran Salihovic had insulted Croats.

This move puts Salihovic among the Bosniak politicians who have been denying the existence of the former Bosnian Army-run camp, said association president Mirko Zelenika, who had been imprisoned and tortured there.

He said the Bosnian Army imprisoned 891 Croats during the 1992-95 war.

He added that Salihovic was behind his office's decision not to interview any member from the association during the investigation, and that he should be ashamed for stopping the investigation.

Croat and Serb war victims' associations have often complained about Salihovic's work, saying he is protecting Bosniak war criminals.
