Investments in electronic communications up 19 pct

ZAGREB, Sept 7 (Hina) - Investments in Croatia's electronic communications market in the second quarter of 2013 went up 18 per cent on the year because operators, after switching to new technologies, continued to invest, the Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency (HAKOM) said on Monday.

In Q2, revenue from Internet access reached HRK 617.75 million, up 9.75% on the year. Revenue from TV services rose 18.33% to HRK 132.92 million.

Revenue from telephone services in the mobile public communication network was HRK 1.54 billion, down 4.08% from Q2 2012, while in the fixed network it was HRK 695.64 million, down 11.05%.

Demand for broadband Internet access via mobile communication networks continued to rise in Q2 this year, with the number of accounts going up 9.61% to 412,988.

Broadband access in mobile and fixed networks at the end of Q2 2013 was nearly 31%.
