Croatian president meets Montenegro's PM, parliament speaker

PODGORICA, Sept 3 (Hina) - Croatian President Ivo Josipovic met with Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic and Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic in Cetinje, Montenegro on Tuesday after meeting with his host, President Filip Vujanovic.

The interlocutors agreed that in the context of good political and all-round relations, one should also consider the solving of the border issue, and voiced willingness to further intensify economic cooperation, notably in infrastructure and investments, according to statements from Djukanovic's and Krivokapic's offices.

Djukanovic said Josipovic's visit to Montenegro was a confirmation of the excellent bilateral relations that was important for the progress of the whole region, as an encouragement to stabilisation and the European path of Western Balkan countries.

He pointed to the importance of Croatia's European Union and NATO membership and the experience he said the friendly neighbour was sharing with Montenegro in the realisation of its European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

"Montenegro is on the right track to become the next EU member and I am confident that your government will continue to work with dedication on the realisation of the set goal," said Josipovic.

Representatives of political parties attended Josipovic's talks with Krivokapic.

The interlocutors focused on the role of national parliaments in European integration and the Croatian parliament's experience in the process, the statement said.
