Croatian FM announces new meeting on now-defunct Slovenian bank issue

BLED, Sept 3 (Hina) - The foreign ministers of Croatia and Slovenia and the two countries' financial experts will meet in October to continue handling the issue of the now-defunct Ljubljanska Banka's transferred savings, Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said in Bled, Slovenia on Tuesday.

She met with her Slovenian counterpart Karl Erjavec on the fringes of a strategic forum.

"A meeting in Croatia has been agreed, most probably in the second half of October, after the Croatia Forum in Dubrovnik, between myself and my counterpart Erjavec and our financial experts. We will discuss the next steps in the handling of the transferred savings issue, given that the Basel Bank for International Settlements has reiterated that it is not competent in this case," said Pusic.

She and Erjavec also talked about the relations in the region and its European future. "The region's European future is something in which Slovenia and Croatia can and wish to cooperate," she said.
