Inzko says Bosnian politicians to be replaced by citizens at elections

MOSTAR, July 6 (Hina) - The High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valentin Inzko, has announced that the international community will not replace politicians or impose legislative solutions, whose non-passing prompted citizens to protest outside central state institutions several times, and voiced hope that the situation will change at next year's elections.

The fate of these politicians is in citizens' hands. They have the authority to replace them at the next elections, Inzko said in Saturday's Dnevni avaz daily, refuting allegations that the international administration could once again use its broad powers, which include replacing politicians and imposing laws.

Inzko urged politicians in Bosnia to find a compromise on important laws.

The time until elections must not be 15 wasted months, the Austrian diplomat said.

He recalled that politicians must pass a law on the personal identification number, comply with a European Court of Human Rights ruling so that Bosnia could pave the way to European Union accession negotiations, and deal with military and state property.

Inzko also expects the formation of a new ruling coalition in the Federation entity to eliminate the obstacles present almost a year.
