ZAGREB, June 26
(Hina) - The Justice and Peace Commission (Iustitia
et pax) of the Croatian Bishops' Conference has appealed to the
Croatian government to withdraw a bill governing judicial cooperation
with the European Union (EU) in criminal matters which the commission
considers to be controversial because Croatia would not have been
accepted to the EU if it had been suspected of protecting ideological
crimes committed during the Communist era but only as a credible
partner.
